And here is a closer shot of the numbers.....oh yeah, the core is magnetic.

1957-version very early Deumer EK1. The numbers on this one are also shallow, and while not the same as on 1939 crosses, are very similar. This one has a copper-plated magnetic core.

        Kevin,
I just saw the cross this weekend. I purchased it from Eric N a few years ago and sold it to my son (Eric Sowersby) this past year. Yes, it is magnetic and the pin is rounded on the backside just as you have observed. Anyway, the cross has been shared by three active forum members and has always been treated very well.

          Hi Kevin,

Thanks for bringing this post back to life. It is always good to learn more about these crosses, even if I don't own it any more! It's always difficult to let an item go, but I decided to focus on IABs. Otherwise I would be completely pennyless!

          Chet,

Glad to see that it is still in your family. I'll have to look more closely at Eric's 'War Room' photos to see if I can spot it. Hope to see the both of you soon!

          Best regards,
          Eric

It's cool to restart an item from 2003 ;-)
It is also cool that we needed 6 years to find the ID of the maker ;-)

Maybe I will check some old threads ;-)

              THX Kevin ;-)

The badge that is in question is know in my collection. I missed this thread when it was brought back from the depths of unknown, but my father pointed it out to me. So, I took some pictures of the Deumer so that you could have a look. The Deumer is on the left on the Zimmerman is on the right. The Zimmerman in the picture is the very first EKI that I bought and it is maker marked 20 on the underside. If more pictures are needed, just let me know.

How about another picture because I enjoy taking pictures of my badges.

Eric N your badge is in good hands sitting in my war room. You can't see it all that well, but it is the EKI that is farthest left.

                            Hi Eric,

I see that my old cross still keeps good company! Thanks for the updated photos, and thanks to Kevin for the ID.

                            All the best,

                            Eric
