        Dear Dan and others,

Very nice EKs! I believe, Dan, yours is a unmarked Wachter & Lange. For some reason, you see more of those W&Ls in mint condition than any others, although still quite rare in that condition.

My 11 year old son has been collecting (well I buy and vet them for him) mint EK2s for the past 2 years and has accumulated a collection of about 11 EKs in mint condition. So thru this collecting area I have been able to monitor prices being asked at the shows/internet and the frequency that mint EKs appear. That being said, I would have to disagree on the price of mint EKs discussed in this thread. True mint EKs, such as the one you picture are going waaay beyond the quoted 100 Euro price. I would buy them all day long at that price plus give you a tip!

At the last MAX, and I know some dealers increase their prices for these shows, I saw a total of 4 truly mint EKs. I bought 2 and passed on 2 because of the steep price of close to $300 USD (for a W&L with packet). By Sun both EKs which were priced at $280 USD and $250 had sold. Now of course the dealer might have come down but I doubt he came down 1/2. Additionally at the last SOS I did not see a mint EK2 under $250.

Crosses in the condition of yours are quite rare and very desirable.

thanks for that I have the packet for the cross and a mint ribbon so its worth keeping hold of then? lol

Ive been collecting german ww2 militaria for about 15 years on and off but stop when I joined the army so have not done much until a few months ago.
Dabbled a bit because I didnt know what I wanted to collect, my first thought was Helmets, which I have a few of but they just seemed too pricey for good ones and I got fed up of seeing rubbish!!!
So a few months ago I decided to collect ek2´s by makers mark, they seem to be fairly common over here(Germany) and not too pricey so in the last few months ive managed to get 13 or so including a schinkel and the plan(he says)
Is to get one of each MM so ive got some collecting to do lol!!!!

Wow ... that's incredible. I don't believe I've seen an EK2 sold for more than $170 US (and that was a special case).

            Man ... that's crazy.
