    It clearly illustrates the progression of the die flaw! Mine has a loose core, have you guys observed that too?

      Flaw is not a correct description . All we have here is a re-used die : . > where a new crown was ground into the old die . Getting the bead spacing to match the old one is what caused this misalignment . Modern day tools and machinery are much more acurate . 'The teeth' are what is left over from the old beading - groves that could not be filled in .

        Could these dies then be re-used/salvaged after the war?

          Some are original dies and some are new post war ones that have been re-worked to change the apearance as the original fakes no longer fool enough people .
