    DK in Silver

    Hello folks,
Here is an award I don't think I have ever shown before, but I have owned it a long, long time. It is a DK in silver by Zimmermann. It came from the same veteran source as my RK des KvK with out swords. This cross is almost in mint shape, with some minor age and tarnish.

This is a typical later example. I really prefer the silver DKs to the gold versions. It used to be that 20+ years ago, every one went ga ga over the silver versions. Now everyone wants the gold one-it is rather a shame. At least to me.

BTW, I did place the cross in a fine quality reproduction case from Muller-Militaria, I can highly recommend his stuff.

        Hello

A very nice example of the DKiS. One of these is on my 'shopping list' so that my '20' marked DKiG has a companion !!

As I said in another thread, in my opinion the DKs are one of the best looking Third Reich awards. Although I do want a wartime produced RK, (as opposed to the early 57 re-issue which I already have), for my collection I'd sooner have a draw full of these to a draw full of RKs !!

        Regards
        David

            Hello,
Thank you, and I agree it is rarer but not as popular. Not the flavor of the month I guess. I hope they will make a come back.

Hi Jody. Nice one. I have a feeling that the DKiS falls into that same category as the Civil Awards. Beautiful but underappreciated. Although the Silvers do command a premium compared to the Golds, I still believe it's that thought ... ahhh ... these were won only by the admin dudes

              Still nice.

                  Hi Jody,
I tend to think there not as popular because of two things, first the rarity, this page from WAF shows DKiG awards outstrip the DKiS by about 24 to 1 thats why there not often seen. The second thing is the stigma that gold is 'better' than silver. Which in the case of these awards is true.
Perhaps if more people see this thread and realise the exclusive factor of owning a DKiS they will make a comeback. The down side is that the prices could go up. Downside for me because I'd like one but a) can't find one b) can't afford one.

Great cross, we should form a club!
