        mark on ring

There is an incuse relief mark of some sort, but I am having trouble seeing an acorn. It's more like a single SS sigrune. Thanks, guys. Charlie

Would this be a good cross to use toothpaste on?

            Hello

If you really must clean it don't use toothpaste. This is an abrasive substance and may damage the surfaces of the cross. If it is absolutely essential to clean it place it in some silver dip solution, (the only one I know of is called Goddards Silver Dip here in the UK), for 3 - 4 minutes. Then rinse in clean water and completely dry with tissue paper and a hair dryer.

            Regards
            David

I guess I'll leave it alone. I don't know how much history I would be rinsing down the drain. Thanks, David!! I think these are so much more desirable than ones that sat in a drawer during the war. Charlie

Anybody know why it seems a lot of 24's have dark frames? Different alloy mixes? Maybe lots of these were issued to areas of severe combat conditions, i.e. Russian front/Afrika korp/naval units? Thanks, Charlie

That is a nice 24, have in mind not all off them have extra marks. And i dont recomend cleaning it, most off those 24 have a very high silvercontent in the frames. Most my ones are also black in the frames, and dipping it will only make it look ok for a short time then it will go black again. And if you dont dry it very carefuly im shure the core will rust, and that is bad bad.
