i have just purchased this,the seller informed me that his father got it during the war when he was a member of a boarding party that boarded a german ship along with a belt and buckle,but as i have learned a story means nothing ,any opinions please

yes, close ups are needed here. No not all EK's are magnetic so do NOT rely on that to separate good from fake.

Yeep that is a one pice copy or fake, the ek should be made off 3 parts. A backside frame and a front frame, then there is a core in the middel. And that one can be unmagnetic, but 95% are made off iron as that was the law.
