    Baffle Back EK1 question

Hi , I recently purchased this 800 marked EK1 1914 baffle back vaulted cross. I can't identify the makers mark in my references, were these crosses attributable to one maker only and does anyone know who that was? I've tried to scan the maker mark but my camera is not brilliant. It is a raised, quite ornate crest in the centre of the reverse. A friend of mine has a similar cross with the same mark. Cheers.

I have a screwback like this, but no mark. Is the center on yours iron? (Mine isn't.)

                Hi,

Glenn's example is, I'm pretty sure, an "AWS". Look at the central raised portion of the maker's mark and you should see the letters in raised relief. Unfortunately, I can't tell you who AWS stands for (I thought I heard once but can't remember). My example is highly vaulted and has exceptionally good detailing on the obverse (the core is iron on mine).

                Regards
                Mike K

PS: I think this should be on the Imperial Forum?
                Regards

Righto. I'll copy it over there. This isn't Meybauer's mark.

Thanks guys didn't know whether to post on imperial or crosses. The example my friend owns has retained more detail on the maker's mark, I'll ask him to take a look.
