The droop tail eagle changed to the 'normal' eagle in late 36/early 37. Why would badge manufactures use the droop tail on a badge designed in April 39? However, we've seen some odd things come to light in just the short time I've been a member.

                        Hello,

i would be with Gene on this one. But maybe i'm wrong (i don't think so, but maybe)! Joey, what is your proof that this example is a pre 45 one? I've seen, owned and handled a few spanish crosses of all(!) grades but i never saw one like this. I'm alway looking forward to improve my knowledge.

                          -

Drop tail or not – I don´t like what I see.

Same here, although I have to admit that except for the eagles, it does not look too bad. But I think we have spent some energy on discussing this exact cross before. It will remain "non-textbook." I personally would not buy it or keep it in my collection.
                            Cheers, Frank

                              Joey,

As the saying goes "If you want to talk the talk, you've got to walk the walk" so let me put the ball firmly back in your court and ask you to prove that this is a pre-may 1945 made Spanish Cross.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

Show us the proof such as period photographs, one in a grouping direct from the family, etc. but not some story from some one who said his 3rd cousin's 2nd uncle, once removed got it a dead nazi stormtrooper that he had just strangled with his bare hands after taking out the entire regiment with just a bayonet and a revolver.
