    Opinion on this 1957 cross

I could use some opinion on this cross, its my first 1957 and it came with a 1957 russian front medal. The cross got a 800 marker on the 1813 side at 6 o'clock. Ribbon is glowing under U.V light.

    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hi Frank-

Looks like a 1980's era RK - it may be eariler if it had an iron core. Still it looks better than the one I got from Detlev in the late 1990's

Looks like a late production, but make sure that it is not a 1 piece cast. Core has been painted after, you can see the paint on the beading and possibly there is paint already coming off at the back. Bad paint work .

      Be careful .

        Hi,

I'd agree with a late 80's or 90's age for this one. Painted core, large paper-clip loop, matt-silver frames and location of the 800 mark all point to a later production date. I'd agree with eindecker than it's still a bit better than the current "collector's" examples.

Thanks for the feedback . Its a 3 pieces cross, I am sorry my camera can't take very small detail , and the core is not magnetic. I have to agree with Henri, the paint is really bad on the back, while the front got an ok paint job. By looking at the paint on the back, I can see that its already fading.

          Thanks again guy.

Here is similar for comparision (detail is much better than these crappy photos show).
            3-piece, non magnetic, 800 marked + S&L oaks.

Nice cross Larry, thanks for showing it. Last question though what would be the normal value of a cross like this?

                Thanks again guy,
