wow thanks for posting some more
I'll try to get Detlev's opinion on these, as he obviously thinks/thought they are OK. Just so strange about some being marked L/11...
          watch this space

Detlev couldn't comment unless the spange itself was in his hand, and didn't have a 'general' opinion about this style

Here's another from JamieCross this morning, with die flaws at the top of the '9's
            any/all opinions still very welcome!
            regards

              Hi Jon,
I couldn't see the "die flaws" from the image clearly. Do you mean the "scratch" on top of left "9"? but it didn't show up on others.

              Sihong

just bumping this up again with another one up for sale today, seller describing it as 'early quality' and maybe of 'solid silver' or 'heavy silver plate' as patina is almost like a black paint...
all your thoughts as ever are welcome
                  regards

This one has such a distinctive shape you would think you would be able to identify it in a period photo.

I personnaly dont like it, as there is a lack of overall symetrical quality which you would expect from manufacturers. There is a massive space between the 19 and the 39, from the reverse the wreath circle is 'not' a circle and the bumps where the talons should be are not there (which are there on the accepted L/11 spanges). (plus the crudely soldered prongs and the odd shaped wings).
Also just noticed on another thread that the blue S&L packet shown earlier in this thread with the mint spange in celophane, is frowned upon (the packet).
So.. a mint badge that I dont like, in cellophane, in a spurious paper packet...gets me thinking !

(don't delete your pics guys! and yes, I found the thread!)

anyone notice one in a period pic?
                          regards
