    Souval RK Info

Anyone know where I can find some info on the Souval RK's. I know they are post war, and am not looking for pics but just the story behind them, and why they were created... Never been into them much myself but having recently fallen into one I would like to know a bit more about them.

    Cheers,

    -Shane

      Hi Shane,
The RK's and a lot of other Souval restrikes were around in the mid to late 60's. I understand that they were produced on some of the Souval dies from the TR period and what they did not have were made up at that time. Rudolf Souval produced original period pieces and his son Robert produced the later material. The RK's were profed with the 800 in a small box or incised rather than the 800 done in small numbers without the box. Many of the other Robert Souval items were stamped with L/58 or a R.S. which made use of a different style "R" than his father's badges. I first became aware of the Souval material through an ad in the Shotgun News. The gentleman was a retired dentist (Dr.Ken Lane if I remember right) from New Mexico living in Austria. Hope that this is of some help.
      Regards,
      Dick

You may want to take the iniative of using the 'SEARCH' function on this forum. Much has been written about the Souval firm, in Vienna. I just don't feel like typing it again.

          Thanks Bob,

I actually did a search under Souval RK but turned up just some pretty general info, nothing of any substance. Thank you for the heads up though.

I did acually just do a search on Souval Knight's Cross (It was so obvious don't know why I didn't do it before. I searched the german Ritterkreuz and rk but nothign good. Funny how many things in this hobby go by different names. Anywhoo the most ovvious turned up the best results (so obvious I never even thought to search it , I searched all the other variations )
