    Flawed Round 3 EK2

Have you ever seen one so heavilly flawed? Look at the 6 o'clock arm and the date.

      Marshall,
Sorry I missed your first post but glad I could help resurect it.

What if it is just one maker? Do the other attributes of those EK2s look different - perhaps their die was a crapper and after that they made a change. And guess what, we are not doing round 3s so lets retool this one baby. It could happen. Modern machinery goes tits up all the time, I have no problem with one die going prematurely bad. If these are as early as we think then it is not like they had been minting EKs in a while. They changed over from the Schinkel frames and the first one they make is a lemon.

      Just a thought.

        Hi Marc and Marshall!

For sure an interesting subject and sorry, I missed the first thread somehow. See, it's just an EK2....thats what 'they' say.

Here's the 6 o'clock arm reverse of my Round 3. No real visible flaws.

However, deep down it's staring to fall apart....

It is interesting to see that, especially at an early cross with supposedly low production run. And I guess, since this is just an EK2, there will be not debate as to whether this is a die flaw or 'material' falling into the die...

Those EK dies seemed to be prone to crack. EK1, EK2 and RK!

What's interesting is that the piece in the first post is only flawed on one side. The same with mine, no sign on the obverse. So here we have the bin theory again, what else could it be?
