I just received over 30 unpublished photos of Hauptman Waldemar Mueller from the family. He is the RKT whose grouping I have and the photos are truly the icing on the cake. The photos track his career from the Reichswehr up until the awarding of his RK at Monte Cassino. Many of the photos have soldiers with just black and white on the helmet emblems. Just gorgeous. Enjoy:
His portrait:
Here he is on the left just after getting his RK, along with his commanding officer, Major Knuth. Knuth was killed the next day by artillery:
Here is Knuth getting his RK from General Raapke somewhere between Monte Cassino and Anzio:
Mueller a younger man:
Much younger:
Here is a closeup scan of Knuth's RK. I love black and white photos from this period - so clear!
