i have had examples of the ek 2 with the loop ring completely closed and most with an opening. what is the consensus on completely closed loops?

From what i know most bigg rings are closed " welded", but there is some that is not . About the small rings on the EK, i only know that Souval did not solder some in the back side off the EK.
