    EK1 "1" Deschler

    Gentlemen,

I would appreciate any comments and observations you may have concerning this EK1. It appears to fit to the one shown on the association pages. Is it correct that the swaz is so low?

    Thanks. Skip

        Hi Skip,

as I said in the project paper, Deschler have a very (nearly ridiculous) low swastika.

          Hi Dietrich,

yeh, I read your project paper as well, compares quiet favourably. Just the quality seems to leave a lot to be desired. I thought Deschler was a top maker but judging from their EK1s I was probably mistaken.

The lack of a quality iron center always made the Deschler Iron Cross 1st Class rather uninteresting.

I never paid enough attention to see if the 2nd Class is any better. Are they?

Yes, not what one might think as top quality, but still original! And that's the only thin that counts, isn't it?

Just acquired one myself (another collecting goal ticked ).

See what you mean about the low swaz. The quality of the ribbing isn't the best either. Even so, this is a nice one, looks unworn with tons of tarnish.

and the low swaz. Look at the inner edges of the frame...not the best finish.

                        Hi Rich,

yeh, same on mine. Lots of flash still on the inner edges.
