Left: '7' - Meybauer with fake added marking, right: '23' with fake added marking and repro ribbon.

The mark "8" on the EK2-1939 crosses is a post-war mark. It was first encountered on the characteristic EK2 crosses known as "VARIANT 8" for this reason.
Much later, Assmann (=35) turned out to be the producer of these crosses.
But that's not the case with this cross
