During the production process, with time, dyes will wear off which leads to a loss of quality of final product.
Based on that, if we have cross with not so crisp numbers anddand on the frame, we can assume that cross is late war production?

The late-war crosses of this particular manufacturer (IMO) were of much inferior quality for manufacturing reasons, not wear.
Similar situation we have with S&L EK2-1939 crosses.
