Unknown maker EK's

Is it known how many unmarked and unknown makers of EK's there are? Are we talking about say 5 legit types or are there a lot more? If there are lots how do you EK experts keep them all in your head? Do you have nicknames for the types and are there different telling characteristics to each? How do you tell an unknown unmarked fake one from a good one if there is not a system? I assume there is but I would love to hear WHAT it is!

i believe there are certain mfg's of ek1 and ek 2 awarded and aftermarket LDO's dee third or forth post.

Thanks Rick, but thats not what my question was. I am talking about UNMARKED and also unknown (as in it has no mark and we don't know who is the maker by the fact that there are identical ones that are marked). I was wondering how many different die patterns have been seen that are ALWAYS unmarked.

I don't know the answer to your question, Sal, and I don't know if anybody does. At one time I considered accumulating all of the unmarked EKs I could in an effort to match them to maker-marked examples -- but luckily I came to my senses!
