War merit cross with swords authenticity

Hello, this medal was one of the first pieces of German militaria that I purchased when I was in my late teens. Admittedly, I had no idea what the medal signified or what signs I should look for to determine its authenticity. That being said, your opinions on the piece is appreciated.

Looks like a original late war cross made in zink that have lost all bronze finish
