    DKiG light 20

    Dear All,

A fellow collector is looking for second opinions on this light 20; of course he has mine. Please help out.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Al

The rivets, hinge, catch all look good. I can see one of the flaws on the starburst from the photos, but the date is way too bright to see it. From the photos, this looks good. Do you have more detailed pics of the date and wreath?

          Thanks guys,

Glenn: no worries, they are far a way still

Tom: yes, the finger prints are all there. Here is a better shot of the wreath.

          Best regards,

          Albert

I can see three of the flaws on the wreath and one on the sunburst from the photos. The dates are identical. This is a good zimmerman. I am always a little suspicious when I see writing or engraving on the back of these, but this is a good piece

The areas in green are where the flaws are readily apparent from the images. Those areas in purple are where the flaws are not readily apparent due to image resolution. Again, this is for fun, as this is a good piece.

I was curious about the area circled in blue. What is that Albert?

                  Thanks Tom.

Guys, Tom has pointed out the major areas to look for on the obverse. Good job and great help in studying the original thing! Also take a look at the dates and look for the identical "fingerprints".

As of today that's still enough to tell the good from the bad. Of course if Tom keeps teaching the fakers we might have to go into detail much deeper in a year or so

The area in the blue is an often seen feature on mint or maybe early award light "20" and it looks like this (left mint; rightly already slightly rubbed off and flattened). But now you really are giving away too much:

And is here what it looks like on worn pieces. From kinda still there to flattened into a state of nonexistance. Also, take a look at the leaf like thing to its right:

                      Thanks Albert!

There is still a few more. I think it is one thing for fakers to know about these and entirely a different issue for them to be able to reproduce them.
