I am looking at a possible deal which would result in either trading away my Kriegsmarine KC & urkunde or a possible straight sale and I would appreciate some input concerning the approx value. The KC is a standard 100% original L/12 piece with some surface rust and scratching to the paint - it includes the original ribbon. Also included is the original preliminary KC award document and a 1942 dated photoalbum incluing photos of the actual presentation of the award. The photoalbum was presented to the original owner of the KC by the crew of his destroyer in 1942. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Difficult to put a price on such things, but the KC itself I would guess around $6000, and the Besitzzeugnis about half of this , around $3000. Add on the album and you talking of quite a princely sum, your starting point would be a value of around $10,000. To the right buyer however, it could be much more.

I thought this one rang bells in my memory, but I wasn't sure it it was the same one. Is that you Soren ?
Very nice set indeed. It is featured in colour in my book

Hello Gordon, yes it's me Soren - hope all is well!! I have sent a few more pics via Nick and hope he will be so kind and post them for me - the pics will show the urkunde for the EK2 1914-18 (awarded in 1919!) and also the EK2 itself. Quite interesting to have in my collection the first EK2 and then also the final RK from the same person. Unfortunately I do not own all the other awards in-between like his German Cross in gold etc, I do however also have his 1957 re-issue RK where the top eye has been cut off. The RK holder Rolf Johannesson was a professional Navy officer and had a remarkable career although he never joined the nazi-party before or during WW2. He was a commander of several different destroyers like f.inst. "Erich Steinbrinck'' and ZG3 "Hermes" (captured Greek Navy - British built destroyer) and subsequently commanded the 4th destroyer flotilla in the Norwegian Atlantic. He continued his Navy career after WW2 in Germany. A brief history: July 1918 joined the Imperial Navy as a cadet, 1924 Leutnant zur See, 1933 Kapitänleutnant, 1937 Korvettenkapitän, 1940 Fregattenkapitän, 1942 Kapitän zur See, 1945 Kontreadmiral. 1957-58 Commander of the German Bundesmarine Naval fighting forces, 1958-61 Commander of the Navy of the Bundesmarine.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures.Looking for any original items related to Danish W-SS volunteers
