NICE.... I found a picture on Kai Winkler's site under his archives of previous sales...
The text:
RITTERKREUZ DES EISERNEN KREUZES 1939, ohne Hersteller Stempelung, jedoch typisches Stück des Herstellers Otto Schickle (L/15), Zarge aus Neusilber, keine Stempelung im Sprungring, Eisenkern, am Band (23 cm Länge), hervorragender nur minimal getragener Zustand, sehr seltene Variante des Ritterkreuzes

Great photos! The core on the piece I have is loose as well.
Do you have a weight on this piece? Look at the earlier comparisons to the '57 piece and you will see the same flaws on the beading, but not to the degree of the '57. Later I would like to compare the "1939" dates side by side, as there were two different styles noted earlier, particularly relating to the angle of the upper arm of the "3" in the 1939. Is there evidence that the piece is palted by examination of the edge of the cross where the two halves meet? Mine is silver plated, as shown by SEM and is marked "L/15" without a silver content stamp.

I can't really tell about the plating, here is the picture with some side views. The weight of the cross itself without the loop is about 24.5g, I don't have a digital scale, just an old jewelers scale, so I put cross on it and was holding the ribbon so suspension loop wouldn't touch the cross.Attached Files
