          Hi,

Imo the first one is earlyish, the second one is definitely not early. If you want a definitely early 57er DKiG, find a S&L example with a wartime hinge/pin/catch assembly.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

First one is earlier than the second one, but it is not the very early one with wartime parts !!

I'd be interested to hear some thoughts on this one.

                          Hi.

100 euro is below market price,
                          not expensive.

                          Kind regards, Alex.

Ok guys, call it wishful thinking but it seems not ALL Early Dkigs had the cokebottle...this is from Previtera's book Pg429:

Horst von Schroeter wore these two German Crosses in the service of his nation, (left the 1957 new-form German Cross in Gold he purchased privately, and (right) its 1939 predecessor. The reverses of these two examples are practically identical.

                              Hi,

I agree that not ALL Early DKiGs had a coke-bottle pin, but tying down the ages of the examples in Previtera's book is not easy. Was that type of pin used in the 60s or 70s? It's PROBABLY early 60's but all I can say for SURE is that it is pre 80s. If you want a DEFINITE early example then I still suggest that the cokebottle S&L is the only way to go.

                              Regards
                              Mike K

PS: you know what's written in my copy of the book next to the DKiG on the right with the "practically identical" pin? - FAKE! Horst von Schroeter may have worn it but I'd suggest he bought it at the same time as his 57er. Can Stephen find out when exactly von Schroeter purchased his 57er?

PPS: 100 Euro for the first example would be a good price imo.
                              Regards
                              Mike
