EKII - Date Looks A Bit High ...

One I picked up the other day but I may well sent it back.

    No magnetic version.

Looks like the manufacturer (any thoughts out there to who it was) was having a bad day ...

    First up obverse shot.

Lot of space around the swastika and the 1939 date looks strange . It is not a wartime cross in my opinion.
          Any more opinions?

          Cheers.

The thing is that the whole core was not centred when it was made.

I've tried to move it but it is clamped tight in the frame.

Believed to be authentic but a 'Friday afternoon job ...'.

Came with a certificate of authenticity too.

The 1813 date is even more strange and that is something from the dietools.

              Cheers.

Hi, not sure what you mean but the core is rock solid in the frame - it's as if it was placed off center in the frames before they were soldered together permanently holding the core high and to the right.

that center corner beading looks very odd. I'm trying to remember where I saw that before, but can't match it to any fakes I have on file...
I'm agreeing with Peter, it's not right, and especially with so many EK2's around to chose from, I would chose one that you know is 100% OK
                    regards

Here is another thread on the same type of cross?

losse frame means that the core can shuffle a little around in the frame of the ek, my 120 ( i think thats the mm) is a tad loose

                          Thanks Team,

I've packed this one up for sending back - I was looking for an non-magnetic EKII to put in my collection but at the end of the day I don't think I want one where you can see daylight under the lower arm.

                          Regards ...
