I noticed that more items than usual were not marked "sold" this time around. This could be a function of them not getting around to it fast enough or a slowing demand due to rising prices.

See their note 'Attention Please' under new items. To quote:

'We are pleased to offer among many nice items a small "souvenir-collection" of clasps to th IC 1st class which were "collected" by the british captain Edward Lees during his time as intelligence and interpreting officer in the POW camp Island Farm, Wales from high ranking German Officers. Some Famous German Officers were kept there: Fieldmarshall von Rundstedt, von Brauchitsch, Erich von Manstein, General Kurt Student, General Karl Wolff (SS), Admiral Voss. So as unfortunately these clasps are not named we can still assume that each might have belonged to a very famous German General.............'

I think the reason it's still there is that two were on sale this week - the other (sold) was in slightly better condition.

I doubt it will still be there next week - especially with 'provenance' like that!

I would really like to own a piece like that

I really love those early birds

If only we didn't need to fix the roof on our house

              Have a nice weekend

when i first saw this spange i also thought that the price was quite high. but i quickly changed my mind.
this spange is a very early and rare variant. a "ordinary" spange is about 300€. if you compare this price to the price of a normal EK1 1939 you can say in general that a standard spange is twice as expensive as a standard ek1. now compare the price of this early spange to the price of an ek1 variant, let's say a schinkel type (because detlev takes for a schinkel ek1 also around 600€ as far as i know). a schinkel will cost at least 3 times more than a standard version, but schinkel ek are the "cheapest" ek variants.....
now look at this spange. it is twice as expensive as a ordinary one, but they are much scarcer than a schinkel ek1!!

if i had the money right now this spange would for sure find its new home in austria!

                cheers,
                stefan

Plus the fact that it could have actually belonged to one of those famous Generals would always give you goosebumps

                      George

                      Good spot!

This exact (and well known) picture flashed into my mind as well when I read von Rundstedt's name among the Welsh POW's...

But which of the two on his site 'was it'??

I'll not be buying either piece Darrell..!

Nice original and scarce Juncker pieces... but to claim provenance would require a leap of faith akin to.....well, a big leap anyway..

                          Plus, I already have one.

                              Congrats George.
I think that is a really nice 1st class 1st pattern Spange.
Unfortuanally I could not find the money for it.

But what the h..., there will be one for me, sooner or later
                              Best regards,
