    Super, super, super spanish cross.

Thought the title would get some attention.

Here is something <I never thought of and honestly must say...I never knew.

A friend has (almost on offer for him to buy) a group consisting of (sit down if you have heart problems).....

Spanish cross for the relatives of a soldier killed in action.. the document for this as well, a pile of photos of the big ceremony in Berlin...

    And here is the hammer....

Spanish cross in Bronze with swords to the KIA, the award and the document. The guy was a Panzer man.

I always thought the parents, wife, whatever, was awarded the cross on a ribbon....Basta.

But that the KIA was also awarded a cross... and with it are 2 spanish medals and a big colorful award doc.

So, the KIA was awarded the full row of awards, and the Parents got one as well.

Am I stupid..or is this news to you guys as well.

(By the way, the whole group was in a drawer when a second hand shop came to buy all the furniture in a house. The women would have sold it to the junk shop guy if he had not been so cheap (offered $10 for the lot). I guess if he had offered $100 or so, she would have sold. In the end she brought it to an antique collector who is now acting as middle man.

Any estimates on what it would be worth? A set this complete I have never seen.

It sounds very similar to a group I have on lay-a-way that is costing me $2,000. The group I am buying has the Spanish Cross with swords and award document, two spanish medals with documents and a photo album, that the submariner who received the awards put together. The group I am buying can be seen on Powellz.com.

        Hi Ken,
The real kicker is the Cross for the next of kin with its doc included in the set....

              Hi Chris,

Sorry, I missed the next of kin part. With that rareity, I'd say the value goes to between $4,000 and $5,000 depending on the condition of eveything. What a find!
