this is one of the reasons i enjoy this forum.

a logical progression of questions/answers which
satisfies the inquiries of a new collector and confirms
the observations of someone who continues to learn.

    thanks to all parties involved.

        Walter,

Is this another eBay Special? Someone was trying to sell a one piece mm 20 on eBay until it got pulled. There were no photos posted. When I asked for photos, the seller never sent them. If you bought this on eBay, send it back and/or consider leaving negative feedback. My sincere recommendation is to stay away from ANY eBay EK's until you are more experienced. 75% or more of all eBay EK1's, whether 1914 or 1939 crosses are no good. 99% of the 1870 EK1's are bad. Visit the web sites of known, trusted dealers (not eBay sellers) and study their offerrings. Buy a copy of The Iron Time by S. Previtera and study it. Join the WAF and participate. Use the PM system here and I'll be happy to help you.

Just because a pice has a seam does not mean it's 3 piece. You have to be able to see a gap between the inner edge of the frame and the core, even if it means looking through a magnifier. The core is supposed to be sandwich in between two halves of the frame, thus 3 piece.

The "20" mark is visible in this pic.

Yup - that's a fake. Frosting and core paint are not an issue when you have a 20 like this!
