L/17 Screwback Iron Cross 1st Class

After 52 years at my collection and over 350 motel buys, I'll put mine up against anyone's for originality. I'll wager I have seen a few more pieces than you have and written more reference books also. It is your kind of backhand comments that drive poeple away from educational sites and inflame others.

Ron, you posted the cross for comments, which you got.

You don't want to accept them and stick to your belief that the cross
is fine.

Then you start to defend the cross because you know it's authentic, which other forum members doubt.
So you get another sort of comment, but that's what you can expect for persisting.
You should read it like: "If you think the cross is ok, that's fine with me"....

IMO the LAST thing you should do is respond mentioning your 52 years of experience.
Even experienced collectors or dealers can make a mistake.

It's your way of replying that keeps other forum members to give their opinion.
If you keep it up, nobody will bother to reply to your postings in a short while.

No, this is the first screwback with this number that I have seen and it differs from the others. I have seen the repro pin back L/17s and they are bad and not like this screwback. Just my view.

The comment that bothered me was the one that impuned my whole collection, not just this cross.

It is not the L/17 we compare with. It is the L/54 we compare with. Feel free to post better photos/scanns of your cross.
