    Souval Oaks/swords- Rarity & Value?

Posting pics of these Souval Oaks/Swords for Ethreecee. As you can see they're a really nice set. Does anyone have any stats on how many oaks/swords sets Souval produced and could anyone place a value on this set?

John, indeed they are quite well made and are a better represention of period pieces than those we have seen in the past 20 years or so. However, one must keep in mind that thay are merely REPRODUCTIONS...and value must be judged in that regard. A "RARE" reproduction sort of suggests a collector value or interest whicj IMHO shouldn't be afforded any reproduction, no matter how well done.

I hope I am clear regarding value

What one would pay to have a set as a display does not represent 'value' in an overall sense.

                Dave,
Point well made. I think Ethreece just wanted to know out of curiosity, I'd already told him the cost of a Souval RK which in real terms is not a lot, average $150- $200 which I suppose goes to prove your point about them being reproductions. I think there were a lot a Souval RK's produced but did not know anything about the Oaks/swords or infact oaks (the pic you posted is the first picture Ive ever seen of them). Again, as with the RK's I wouldn't think there would be any value in real terms, just wondering how many sets were produced, have you any info on that?
I have a set myself which you can see here. Before you slaughter me, no I'm not going to paint the cross. They're "better value" than modern reproductions and look great on display.

Thousands....ads in magazines etc etc, along with dealers at shows buying wholesale and offering them as 'jeweler replacements'!

John, I'd think they are nowhere near rare.

                    Dave,

Thanks. I suppose once Souval had the dies, as many as possible would have been produced. Thinking about it, the reason they're not discussed here, is as you rightly point out, they're reproductions!

Now the questions been asked I know the answer . It's the only way to learn.
