Question about a knight cross on ebay

I just find that nice forum tonight while searching on internet for Knight cross information and I wanted to say hi to everyone. I only got 2 medals, 1 iron cross second class and 1 red cross medal (ww2 german version), but I am looking foward to expand that collection with the help of ebay

Talking of ebay, I found a knight cross tonight and its looked pretty clean to me so I offert 305$ for it, the reserve still apply though. I wanted to know, before bidding more, if you guy could tell if it was a real knight cross or a fake like the one from militia-webside. I just want to be sure, since repro look more and more like authentic one thanks in advance and sorry if I made any grammar error, my english is not that good.

With such a low price it is most likly to be a copy, however you might be lucky.

And by the way, I advice you to by militaria from other sorces than Ebay, if you dont have much experience.

The cross in question is a well-known Latvian fake.

As Dave said, an original will cost you in the neighbourhood of $8000, and that's in USD.

For us Canadians, that means a 2nd mortgage.

Any help appreciated, especially specifics on how this can be determined from photos or dimensions supplied since it looks so good. I have requested dimensions and if seller will reveal anything known about previous owners to establish chain of custody after the Major in picture who is supposedly the bearer. I think I know the answers already - Peter Wiking or?

This is another fake that we have discussed on three previous occasions from militaria webside. It is a reproduction that can be purchased for $450 (with case) on a website that sells reproductions. Why is it a fake? Because the beading, ring, L/12 stamp, date on the core does not resemble that of original juncker crosses. It is sold as a copy and militaria webside has the balls to call it a "variant" !

Its look too good to be true, I must said. I would never bid on someone that hide his feedback score, that just not safe. I am pretty sure he buy that picture before and that why he is hiding his feedback. Welcome Elronir. Ebay is a bad place to buy Iron Crosses unless you really know what you are doing. Dubra_Aivar and his other fake ID's is a fake seller.
