Original Cross vs Fake one

Dear Members,

The subjects concerning the fakes and originals have been presented on this forum since its beginning I suppose. Nowadays there are so many copies (and sometimes a real good ones i.e. three pieces constructions etc.) which make it difficult to identify even by experienced collectors. How to defend ourselves?

Yes, one may say read as carefully as You only can the threads on this forum and the knowledge comes in time. Sure, it is a way. But... let us consider such a situation - one of us (not exactely experienced collector) is on the outland trip and see a one German cross (anyone). He is not sure about it but the price seems to be a GREAT DEAL. There is always a possibility that the cross is a fake but there is possibility that it is original. There is no way to consult the purchase with any experienced friend.

My point is - IS THERE A WAY TO ENSURE OURSELVES (I am not experienced collector) WHAT WE ARE DEALING WITH FROM THE FIRST SIGHT? Is there a BIBLE of knowledge which always may be applied and help us to decide?

I wonder what Your answers may be....

Unless you've got money to burn, wait. You might miss a great deal, but odds are you won't. Once you gain knowledge (after a year or so, minimum I think) then you'll know what's good and bad.
But if you've just won the lottery, or it's only $5 or so, then go for it. Anything more than that and you're in danger of throwing money away.

Well wen i hunt for new ones i do get burnt some times, but thats life.
I love to get a long shot whit a diffuse maker mark. and i do get some realy rare. Last was a strange 113 EK2 whit extra mark, and it was cheap. I did find out it was a dubbel markt 7 L/13 for about 55 euros Jezze that is the first dubbel markt EK2 ive seen from that maker. Well any how my ide get some odd and be burnt some times, but i have found very nice Rare stuff that way.
And im shure those rare stuff do pay the items that is bad many times.
One more trust the first felling you get from a item!
