Carton and box but no cross?

Take a look at this listing on ebay. Ever seen a box as minty as that! Where on earth could that have been all these years? hhhmmm???

Does anyone know if it's real? I've asked the guy to send pictures of the cross. I'll post 'em when I get 'em.

I know they can't show the swaz, but a pic of the reverse might be useful? Or why not cover the swaz in the photo. He could use a nice pink button or something?

The case is a fake, and the carton (I'll have a look now)

Thats bad too, i.e the carton.

If George post's this on the, 'box & packet' forum we can have a closure look at the good and bad of these again if you like.

          Marcus is right.

The carton has been discussed before.

Our favourite dealer actually recalled some of these cartons sometime ago when they were discovered as reproduction.

I think the EK1 cartons are based on the EK1 spange carton, which is OK.

I'm sure George willmove this to the cases and packets forum where we can discuss it more.

Just a pointer on these, it's what I use, moderator or not I'm no expert.....but for myself as a quick observation look at the K in cross.

Notice on genuine examples, there's a straight exetnsion on the letter with a stall curve end, on the fakes, there is a slight 'hump' before the downwards curvature.

With other differences to consider of course in combination which tally conclusively to it being a reproduction.

However, there is a subtle difference between these outer cartons of originality with another type which is genuine.....similar designation type etc. But they normally have latin style makers names if present.

In any case this one is pertaining to be a an outer carton for this maker, which it is not of the period we desire.

              Hey Allan,

They are if people get confused by Allan's post certainly genuine examples of this '26', box for the EK 1 as indeed there is for the spange.

Allan I think you have a bout 30 don't you ..of each !!!!

....a pitty they didn't put a fake cross in it....so the buyer would have at least a matching set...
