I was wondering if this is an acceptable paint-job for the core of an RK. The cross is a 'no-nonsense' example by Steihauer & Luck. The 'veining' appears on the reverse also, but to a lesser degree......

I have two juncker crosses that have finer lines than the piece shown above. I have heard this effect described as "veining". One member had stated that this was some sureface rusting under the paint that creates that appearance. I do not know if that is accurate, as I have not seen a break in the paint that would reveal this. This looks like the same thing on your cross.Comment

Could it be that the paint shrink when it dry/harden ?
