          Can anyone compare it to an "L/54" EK 2? (I can't. )

And I don't think this will be much help either George....

But maybe (together with the cross-hatching), someone will spot this ...'feature' ... on theirs.

                Hi folks,

I'm resurrecting this old thead because I picked up a cross that appears to be the same maker as George's. I'm in the process of trying to collect an example of each maker with the 'hump' where the ring is attached, and I was hoping this was going to be my Juncker example, but upon close inspection, it's clearly not. Also definitely not a Deschler, Deumer, W&L, or Berg & Nolte.

It took some digging, but the only matching example that I could find on the Forum is George's example above.

Mine seems to share most of the same characteristics:

                Unmarked
                Non-magnetic
Smaller than usual ribbon ring, that's not soldered together
Corners impinge tightly on the swastika

It also appears to exhibit many of the same die flaws and characteristics, including the 'web-like' features in the corners of the beading (mentioned by Biro), and irregular inside edges of the beading.

On the dates, it appears that the first '1' in 1813 appears to sit lower than the other numerals.

I don't think it's a 140, because the corners of the beading are not rounded like the 'Lexicon' example.

Could these truly be a additional 'mystery' maker in addition to the known 'hump' list, or just a fake? I'd think if it was a fake, more examples would have turned up, but who knows?

                What do you think?

                Tim

This is probably just wishful thinking, but it sure looks like a "2" on George's cross....

I've looked at that little mark, and really believe that it's just a blemish. As for Tim's example, I agree that it's a match for mine.
