    Spange to EK_2

    Hello all,

What can you tell me about this one? Is it original at least?

Please let me know either way. Thank you.

Looks like good an unmarked L/11 Wilhelm Deumer to me. But I’m still learning about these tricky spanges, so please wait for more experienced member’s opinions.

            Well hello again,

Thank you for the fast reply guys.

Are all of these unmarked L/11's the same? I mean, do they all have the "9" in "1939" touching the top frame? What about the blobs of recessed metal around the eagle head? These were just some things that I have noticed. Also, what is an estimated value on these bad boys? Please let me know either way. Thank you.

Another thing I look for in Deumer Spange is the way the top wing feather (the long outside one) is slightly shorter than the one under it.

                Hi,

Well great eyes here people. Tell me, how do you know it is unmarked, and don't forget, I would like an estimated value. Not for selling reasons, I just want to know what to pay for the damn thing. Thank you.

                        Deumer

                        Hello again,

How did you all know that it was unmarked before the badge was off the ribbon?

How do you tell a marked version from an unmarked version just from the obverse?

Please let me know either way. Thanks again.

                          Hi William
I don't know any way you can tell if it's unmarked from the front only
                          and
I've often wondered myself about the top of the '9' touching the edge on L/11s. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. IMO it's the die decaying, as the pebbling matches on both versions. I've seen one with just a slight bit touching, alot, and none. As there are SO many L/11s around, it makes sense to me that the die was very well used!
                          lovely spange, $140-170?
                          regards
                          jon

                            Jon,

So is the 9 touching on only the unmarked examples?

                            Bill

as far as I can see, marked or unmarked doesn't seem to matter...
but that's raised an interesting point for me, are unmarked examples of later production? and/or early? or of no consequence?
                              regards
