    EK2 marked 835

    Hello,
I picked this one up back in the late 90s from a picker. I'm still trying to learn from the new EK2 book, but to be honest it takes forever for me to dig through the various makers to try to find the right one for unmarked crosses. Hopefully this will change as I go through my EKs and get more experience.

Anyway, not sure what to make of this one. The core is magnetic and the frame, especially on the obverse, has a lot of flaws. I believe the cross is original but suspect the mark was added later. What's the verdict?
    Thank you,
    Dale

IMO, it's a Meybauer cross with a type-2 Meybauer core. The frame die is obviously very worn, which is quite typical for mid-to-late war Meybauer crosses. IMO, the '835' stamp has nothing to do with the cross; it's an add-on.

I 100% agree with Robert , the stamp IMO a value added just wanted by to reach not original , and not war time period.
