Brass core EK1 - something strange...

    Hello All...

I've been out of the EK collecting scene for quite a while but have this unmarked, non-magnetic brass core cross in my collection for a few years now. I never really passed much heed on its hardware but recently had another look, and it's got me puzzled....

I assumed it was a W&L buy its obverse but although there doesn't seem to be any modifications to its hardware it has got a Wiedmann style catch but not hinge or pin.
    Apologies for the terrible photos.

    Any thoughts?

    Regards - Danny

It's original. The catch is however most likely repaired.

Thanks, yes, I knew it was original but was surprised by the catch. It's a fantastic repair if it is a replacement, the best I have seen. There is a trace or verdigris at one side but no sign of any solder etc. I suppose the base disc would cover that. Unusual however that it seems to be an actual Wiedmann catch was used.

As said it´s original but heavily cleaned and polished IMO
