    KVK1 Godet design

    Hi!
This is probably one of the most unusual KVK1 I will get in my collection, it's a Godet (21, L/50) cross that is marked L/52. I have never seen a KVK1 with Godet design before and not just that it is also marked L/52 for C.F Zimmermann.

    Hope you like it!

    Best Regards
    Martin

Just as Godet and Zimmermann shared their designs for the EK, so apparently for the KVK.

          Hi George!
Godet and C.F Zimmermann do not have the same design on their KVK, but probably Zimmermann made the crosses for Godet.

See pictures of a Zimmermann cross below.

          Best regards

Perhaps they supplied the EKs also, then.

Yes I think so and they basically have the same design.

Zimmermann was also the supplier to Godet for the Knights Cross, the Oakleaves, and Oakleaves with Swords.

That being the case how was it allowed for Godet to be the official supplier of the Oakleaves, etc to the PKZ yet Zimmermann was the actual maker?

Dietrich are you saying Zimmermann produced the OL/OLS ? I know there where some pieces found in the Zimmermann hoard rubble, but have we ever seen actual awarded Zimmermann made OL/OLS ? Godet as a jeweller was more then capable of producing the OL/OLS themself right ?

                        Very interesting KvK1 Martin.

I will have to check my L/52s now and see if any are similar.

                        Great find and research

I think there is nothing extraordinary in the case of a supplier having a sub-supplier. Obviously it was not a problem for Dr. Doehle. And why should it be? If the price and quality is right, why not? Godet just had the better connections than C.F. Zimmermann in this case.
