By the dip of the öse it is a postwar fake or at best a C/D frame postwar S&L. Not sure the frame should rust like that with Neusilber, but certainly not if it was silver.

Because they want to make someone think it was original, and worth more than an artificially aged fake.

I can understand peoples scetpticism about this cross.I didnt believe it either,but as
it was cheap I decided to buy it and look forward to examining it first hand.
I estimate that it must have been buried for at least 20 years,anyone who thought
they could make some money by leaving a post war cross in the ground for years has
lost money.The cross would have been worth more before burial than after.

It don't look like it has a dipping three which if it were a souval it would have that. You need some straight above shot of the cross front and back to see the ring.Cliff
