    Wernstein EK1???

    Hi
I have an option to purchase this cross. There are no markings but going by previous threads it looks like this hinge & catch set up is attributed to Wernstein.(I am probably 100% wrong here but this was the best I could come up with). My questions are,is this original and is £100 too much money for a cross in this condition.
Sorry this is the only pics I can get at the moment
    Regards
    Andy

        Andy,

Wernstein is not a "known" maker, but the debate on this does look promising, at least in my opinion. A good gamble on a rare setup.

        See this thread for more:

            its arrived

Well here it is. A little the worse for wear. My question is, has an opinion been reached as to the maker. I have looked at previous threads and it would appear that the jury is still out on Wernstein and that Wernstein is not a maker of EK's.
Will I hurt this if I clean it up with a little WD40?
            Thanks
            Andy

Hi Andy, well I've just read Gordon Williamson's book cover to cover and on page 151 there is a cross with your exact hardware. He states that this type of set-up is similiar to that used on early Schinkelform crosses by Godet.
