    RK on approval. Fake?

    Gentlemen,

I´ve been given this RK on approval for a few days. Not having a clue about these I would appreciate your educated comments.

Is this one of those controversial "rounders"?
Or is it just an out and out fake?

    Thank you.

        Hi Skip,

        It´s similar to mine, it´s a so called `rounder`KC.

Do a search on the forum and you will get an idea which comments you canexpect...

        BHest regards,
        Ben

          Hi Ben,

thanks for chipping in. In fact I have followed the "rounder" debates, I really just want to know if this is one of those "controversial" ones or if it is a fake one of those.
I take it from your comments that you think its an authentic "rounder"?

            Hello Skip,

This is indeed the "Rounder". Can you give any more details as to where it came from, or any other history behind it?

I own one, and believe in their originality. I am sure that Dietrich will be interested in what information you might be able to provide on this particular cross, too, as well as a number of other forum members, who consider these the genuine article.

There are some here who believe, too, for a number of reasons, that these crosses are not good.

If it is on approval to you, you will have to decide, based upon your own feelings, whether it is one for you. There are plenty of references made to these in past threads for you to read up on. However, you might consider, too, that these crosses have been legitimized as genuine, pre-1945, manufactured pieces in Gordon Williamson's outstanding book entitled "The Iron Cross of 1939", being listed therein as one of the known "varients", AND as having been brought back by a U.S. World War II veteran.

So there you have a little bit to go on for now, and I am sure others will have much more to say in the questions and answers to come.

            Regards,

            Chuck

              Hi Skip,

IMO this one is authentic, just as mine and some others in other forum members collections.
You know that it is a controversial piece, but I don´t have a problem with it.

At least it´s not one of the latest fakes.

              Regards,
              ben

                Chuck,

sorry no info on it as such. It came out of a large german collection that was a pretty mixed bag of imperial, TR, military and civilian awards. Most of the TR stuff was good I was just unsure on this.
Seeing as I´m not a cross collector I probably won´t bother keeping it. I guess I´m just one of the guys who would only want one KC and that would have to be a "65" or Junckers model.

So next question. Whats the view on selling these?
Supposedly I would have to mark it as controversial and what sort of price range would be acceptable?

And yes, it is a genuine Rounder.Any idea when the guy you bought it from started his collection? Or stopped?.

                    Skip,

In regard to pricing, well, I know what I was willing to pay, and no, I won't discuss it openly as I don't believe it to be anyone's business, as I have no intention to sell it, etc. But if you would like to PM me, I will give you my private and personal opinion.

                    Regards,

                    Chuck

                      Hi Dietrich,

No its all very vague. Apparantly a very old collection that started in the 50s.There was a lot of unusual and rare items as well as political and military. Like I said, most of it looked good to me and the TR war badges were all just fine.

                      Chuck, sent you a PM.

                        Skip,

I am not an expert on any RKs. I wish I was. The one you found looks well made, though. I don't want to derail this thread, but wonder if you can PM me on what else you turned up?

It looks like another good 'score' for you!
