Strange box/ case opinions please

I have had this box in the collection for some years and I just thought that I would ask what you guys think? Is this for a sports badge or something, is it even military? I really do not know. Thanks Nigel

Ribbon is fake. The pin is for the German bowling association. Case is not for any ww2 award at least

Indeed not a correct case for WW2 award ... still would like great for a KvK display !

I typically associate that type of hook closure as being pre WW1. I don’t know what would have been in there originally.
