    EK1 Packet for discussion

I took a pic of this from the SOS2005. I've been waiting for the new forum to open before posting so here it is...

I didn't ask to handle it , I know I should have but i didn't. Based on what you see, who can made a call on it?

I don't remember ever seeing an original and I do not know if this one is real but why not discuss it, could be interesting?

As you are aware Rich the odd packet exists that is purported as genuine for the EK 1; very rare. The only example I'm aware of is in Gordons book on page 149.

However the packet you have a photo of is indeed a fake (well that is to say, in my opinion and I suspect a very high probablity of it being wrong) note the skinny designation and spaceing, this is not correct for genuine packets and more synonymous with fakes.

I was just at Stuttgart, and saw a multitude of similar and the same for several varaitions of awards. The guy selling them was open that they were indeed fakes, and next year I'll be the hunt for a inventory of the examples he had. Some of the boxes, like the RAD beige boxes were too bloody good !!!!

I can imagine that towards the end of the war, when materials were scarce the EK1 could have been transported in a packet.

But as Marcus says genuine examples are very rare.

Stephen Previtera shows a good example on page 261 of 'THE IRON TIME'.

If Stphen doesn't object I'll post a scan of the packet referred to.

Here's a scan of the EK1 packet in Stephens book.

Very similer to the EK11 packet.
