    What is this case for? It seems there was SC before.

        It looks similar to the case for an early SCiG. The early SCiG came in a red case with a gold border on the top lid and a red velvet bottom interior. All of the cases I have seen though have a square push button release as opposed to the round push button release that yours has.

          The flat end of the release button is also not typical of wartime cases.
