    DKiG halfcase

    Hi Guys

I posted this in the crosses forum and only got one response. I was hoping perhaps for some more opinions here- IMO this is a genuine late war half case for the DKiG.

The gold stripe is only remaining in traces and there is no pinhole on the front like found on the 57er versions of this type of case

    Any comments much appreciated...

    Many thanks

    Patrick

It looks a lot like an 57er case, with exception of the gold stripe running across.
Could well be a late wartime DK case ....

Thank you Mathijs! I certainly believe it is a wartime one as I have owned several of the 57 examples and this is different in several aspects- being mainly:

          - Gold stripe evident (never seen that on a 57 case)

          - Leatherette covering is type I consider wartime (again slightly different from early 57 type)

          - Animal glue used is absolutely what I expect in pre May 45 cases (later glue is lighter in colour)

          - No pin hole on the front lower edge as found on 57 example as guide hole for push button (this also is absent on all late war half cases for EK1, KVK1 etc)

Has anyone here got a similar example?

          many thanks

          Patrick

All war time period DK boxes have case open buttons.
