    GWB Case Opinions Please

    Hello:
Thinking this is ok as logo has not the more flat edged "football" shape
as the fakes shown here and the black light test was good. Does not glow at all.
But lets see what the more experienced think.
    Thanks, John

Would appreciate any opinions out there on this case. The seller was forthcoming enough to post it for review before he ships it to me. Many thanks, Dave

Gold wound badges normally in black cases. Silver in this burgundy color.

This version I have not seen before, at least not for a wb.

So far i'm not 100% positive on this one.

I would pass on this one.

GWB were normally awarded in black cases with white flock material bases.

                Red cases for SWB normally.

Just the way I got it a long time ago.

I don't like this case: the base does not have a ''629'' recess, or that of later derivatives of the known generic guise. The dimensions with the VA residing in the case look far too small overall, and the LDO logo is certainly not a genuine pattern that I am aware of. The distance between the letters and the actual form of the lettering do not look correct to me.

Plus, this case does not prescribe to any of the LDO forms in any of the series I have ''catalogued,'' nor is it of a similar guise in relation to size and method of construction; for example, note the covering overall application.

The whole case reminds me of the fakes made in the UK, and if I'm not wrong you will find that very logo on those fakes.

                    Kind regards,

                    Marcus

Here we go, sorry about the sloppy photoshop lark, but on the far left we have the thread starter case, then that of the very fake concerned, and for good measure an even more convincing fake version with same style LDO logo, too.

An under the base view and the bogus logo's side-by-side.

                          Thanks everyone.
I am very happy for this enlightening thread.
Even though it's a little disappointing as the truth often is.
But it is what it is.
                          Thanks again.

                            Sorry, John!

I've been there and know that feeling all too well. However, if it's of any consolation these are bloody good fakes; the outer-covering pattern is very convincing and reminiscent of an original pattern.

I saw similar in Stuttgart a few years ago for the Long Service awards (NSDAP, RAD, etc) and they were pretty damn good, also. There exists a version for the LDO marked KVK/EK2 boxes; again, these are too good for our benefit!!

                            Kind regards,

                            Marcus
