    1936 Wound Badge Case

Had it very long time. Just now getting around to discuss it.
Dealer says looks to be case for Legion Condor wound badge?
Third reich production or private purchase?
    Or not...
Didn't know him, havn't seen him in years.
I'm sure I didn't pay much since 'hear say' is only description.
    Ideas???
    Thanks, John

        Hi John,

To be honest, my impressions of this case are that of a more contemporary made case than that of the desired period.

I don't like the padded lid liner or the material, and the same can be said of the gap covering, too.

The catch: well, it looks like a ''apex'' head with a ''beak'' and with the ''broad stem'' which is not exactly a good combination to convince me that this is late 1930s or even 1940s in manufacture. But, lets be objective about this:

The seller needs to take a picture of the catch from the front, with the case open at an eye level perspective. I'd also like to know, if he can peek under the base covering near the recess and observe what material the base is constructed from (wood or cardboard and take a pic too) and what can be seen through that recess; i.e the internal base bottom.

Has the seller conducted a black light test, at all?

        Kind regards,

        Marcus

          Hi Marcus:
UV negative, the same as the 1939 case you inspected in my other thread.
Here's a couple shots of the catch, 'beak' type.
I pulled back the covering from the edge of the cutout as well as my other case in the other thread, and they are both made of the same kind of material as
in your last pics on the other thread.
Kinda weird like something composite made from fine sawdust and glue???
Looks like the verdict is out on both these cases and I wouldn't be surprised
if they were made by the same company.
Hope this and the other thread enlightens others here interested as much as it did me.
Thank you very much for your time and such good work.
          John in Tx.
