Atypical Case for Wound Badge in Gold

I had this gold wound badge posted some time ago and the badge itself was deemed authentic. It is a buntmetal version and is unmarked with construction similar to that you would see for the maker "30" so an early version I presume. The badge fits smugly inside its deep recessed opening and the interior upper white lining is heavily padded. The bottom is secure and I have not tried to remove it to see if there are letters/numbers to be found or if the glue looks like you would expect. The colors in the photo's are pretty close. So I am asking for opinions if this is a period case. I have seen period badges with similar closures but ask your thoughts. Thank You
