I have a strong inclination this is certainly not for a Luft award, but a far more likely candidate for the Spanish Cross in Silver.
With taking a couple of things into consideration (recess, internal base border, catch system and after a good sleep the all important outer-covering pattern) and devoid of a plan view of the case: I can make out what appears to be an incuse borderline on the lid surface.
This deduction is by no means definitive alone, but by my reckoning this is another compelling trait for a SC case. I can't tell from the picture exactly, but - as a norm - the lines seem to be just broader than on certain Luft examples and rarely do the corners overlap.
Kind regards,
Marcus
