Here are two early award cases for EK1s which were mass-produced by the firm "D&B" (name as yet unidentified) and used for any (early) Iron Cross. They both have vaulted dome tops stencilled with the cross form; rounded corners; push-button release catches; a soft, cream-coloured velvety liner fitted for the cross and a silky lining in the top underside portion of the award case. The underside of the fitted insert for the crosses and also the inside bottom of the cases are respectively marked in raised relief "2597. D&B" and "2420. N (in reverse) D&B", each with a blue pencilled number "120" and "179" written on the bottom, as can be seen in the pictures below.
These two cases came to me as part of a recently-acquired collection, each containing an EK1 (a Godet and a Deumer) but, as is explained in the threads cited below, it is impossible to verify that these actual crosses were originally awarded in these two cases.
